On September 21, 2023, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) sent the largest university student volunteer team in Hong Kong to serve at the Hangzhou Asian Games. This mission was coordinated by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LOCPG), with assistance from HKUST's Office of Mainland Affairs and Dean of Students’ Office.
Sixteen HKUST student volunteers, including members of university teams in fencing, rugby, archery, and hockey, departed for Hangzhou on the 21st after completing volunteer training for the 19th Asian Games. Additionally, three HKUST students and alumni competed as athletes at this year's Asian Games alongside athletes from around the world, bringing glory to Hong Kong.
