In May 2023, Mao Jie, Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, led a delegation on a visit to HKUST and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation. This was followed by the opening ceremony for the Henan-Hong Kong Partners, Youth Pioneers 2023 HKUST Summer Camp in Henan at Henan University of Technology on August 1, 2023. Representatives from the University and the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Provincial Education Department attended the opening ceremony.
During the six-day camp, 21 faculty and students from HKUST exchanged views with their counterparts at Henan University of Technology, Zhengzhou University, Henan University, Henan University of Science and Technology, and Songshan Shaolin Martial Arts Vocational College. They also explored Henan's rich historical and cultural heritage at Kaifeng, Dengfeng, Luoyang, and other locations in the region.
